Prophet Idris (peace be upon him) is believed to be the third prophet after Adam and his son Sheeth. He is known as the first to write with a pen and is credited with introducing many sciences including astronomy and mathematics to humanity.

Idris was raised to a high station by Allah. He is mentioned twice in the Quran, where Allah describes him as truthful and patient. Some scholars identify him with the biblical Enoch.
