داود
Dawud (David)
Author of Psalms
Prophet Dawud (David, peace be upon him) was both a king and a prophet of the Israelites. He is famous for defeating the giant Jalut (Goliath) as a young man, which led to him becoming king.
Allah gave Dawud the Zabur (Psalms), a book of divine hymns and prayers. He was blessed with an incredibly beautiful voice - when he recited the Zabur, mountains and birds would join in glorifying Allah.
Allah also taught Dawud the craft of making armor from iron, which He made soft for him. He was known for his justice and wisdom in ruling. He would fast every other day and pray a third of the night.
Dawud was the father of Prophet Sulayman (Solomon) and established the kingdom of Israel that his son would expand.
