لوط
Lut (Lot)
Prophet to Sodom
Prophet Lut (Lot, peace be upon him) was the nephew of Prophet Ibrahim. He believed in Ibrahim and migrated with him. Allah sent Lut as a prophet to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, cities near the Dead Sea known for their wickedness.
The people of Lut practiced sodomy and highway robbery. Lut called them to righteousness for many years, but they rejected him and persisted in their sins. They even demanded that Lut hand over his guests (who were angels in disguise).
Angels came to Lut with the news of the city's destruction. They told him to leave at night with his family, except for his wife who was among the disbelievers. At dawn, Allah turned the city upside down and rained upon it stones of baked clay, destroying it completely.
